New Kids on the Block fans were in for quite a surprise Monday when Mark Wahlberg joined the guys on stage at New York City's Madison Square Garden.

Marky Mark has admittedly distanced himself from the fellas in the past 20 years, but as he told E! News Tuesday at the launch of Wahlburgers Coney Island, when he did reunite with NKOTB it "was a trip down memory lane!"

"I've worked a long time to kind of get away from that," said the Ted 2 star. "But to be able go back and share that with them and be supportive of them was nice."

As for Mark's big brother, Donnie Wahlberg? He was well aware that Marky Mark wasn't initially all that eager to take the stage.

"Mark was coming to visit because we hadn't seen each other [in a while]," said Donnie. "So we wanted some quiet time, but he got there late..."

But a rapper came to the rescue! "50 Cent surprised me," said Donnie, adding that it was him who "dragged [Mark] out on stage" during a rendition of "Good Vibrations."

"And the crowd just went crazy," Donnie recalled.

That's an understatement! Watch the clips above to find out much more about  what went in to Mark's NKOTB performance and the reason Donnie says he was only really in the band "for about a day!"
