Film fans have spoken typed!

Earlier this year, Empire Magazine asked the Internet: who is the greatest movie character of all time? OF. ALL. TIME. That is a very powerful, important question. After thousands and thousands of votes, we have a winner. And though we are hard pressed to find an online poll we actually agree completely with (remember Time trying to ban the word "feminism"? That was unfortunate), we 100%, unabashedly, whole-heartedly agree with this choice as the greatest movie character of all time.

Who is it? We'll give you some hints:

•Fedora.
•"Fly? Yes. Land? No."
•Professor of Archaeology.
•"It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."

Lucasfilms/Paramount Pictures

Obviously you probably guessed it by now. Dr. Henry Walton Jones Junior, aka the one and only Indiana Jones, is the greatest movie character of all time, according to movie buffs from around the Internet.

Fun fact: Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones was this writer's very first celeb crush. And still her favorite.

Paramount Pictures

YUM.

"It was truly heartening to see one of my personal favourite film heroes voted as the Empire readers' greatest-ever movie character—Indiana Jones, played so brilliantly by Harrison Ford in Steven Spielberg's evergreen pulp adventure series," said Morgan Rees, editor in chief at Empire. "It's not hard to see why he's so beloved: handsome, heroic, capable, but he's also got flaws—not only is he afraid of snakes, he also makes mistakes. You can relate to Indy. He's human, not superhuman. There's an element of knowingness and irony to him, too that only heightens his appeal further. Plus of course, he really knows how to rock a fedora."

Indiana Jones beat out James Bond and Harrison's other iconic role, Han Solo from Star Wars, to take the top spot. Here is the top ten list of greatest movie character, as voted by fans:

1. Indiana Jones
2. James Bond
3. Han Solo (Star Wars)
4. Batman
5. Ellen Ripley (Alien)
6. The Joker
7. John McClane (Die Hard)
8. Tyler Durden (Fight Club)
9. Darth Vader (Star Wars)
10. The Dude (The Big Lebowski

Empire also polled fans about the greatest TV characters, and no surprise here: the anti-hero is king. Character we love to hate and hate to love are all over the list of top 10 TV characters:

1. Walter White (Breaking Bad)
2. Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)
3. Homer Simpson(The Simpsons)
4. The Doctor (Doctor Who)
5. Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)
6. Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock)
7. Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
8. Jack Bauer (24)
9. Omar Little (The Wire)
10. Frank Underwood (House of Cards)

Unfortunately, only two women made the top 10 lists: Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in Alien and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But they both kick serious ass and are no damsels in distress, so at least we know movie fans love a strong, smart leading lady. Silver living, folks.

And we also all know Indiana Jones, the greatest movie character of all time, loves a strong female at his side. Marion Ravenwood? Total badass. Dr. Elsa Schneider? Fierce as hell. We can just forget about Screamy McScreamington in Temple of Doom.

Do you agree with this list? Disagree? Let us know in the comments, as long as you remember that we didn't come up with this list so don't shout at us if you think the list is stupid. Shout at Empire.
