Less than one week after Jamie Sangouthai's passing, further details surrounding his death are coming forward.

The Los Angeles County Coroner has confirmed to E! News that Lamar Odom's longtime friend did not pass away as a result of a drug overdose, despite recent speculation.

Sangouthai did, however, die from a bacterial skin infection known as necrotizing fasciitis as a result of chronic IV drug abuse.

"Due to the extent of the infection, the hospital performed surgery to deal with the infection, but the condition quickly overwhelmed what they were able to do for him," the coroner tells us.

TMZ first reported that Sangouthai went to the hospital for an infected arm but the disease quickly spread and became life-threatening.

The 37-year-old's friends had begun a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money for Sangouthai to be brought home so that his mom could "give him a proper burial."

"As most of you know, our good friend and CK classmate has passed away. Jamie Sangouthai will be missed by so many. Unfortunately, there aren't enough funds to bring him home," the page's creators Willie and Jonie Miranda explain.

"I spoke to his childhood friend Leo and we are doing a fundraiser to help his mom give him a proper burial. I'm asking all of our CK family to please help out. Whether it be in the form of a monetary donation, or prayers being said for his mom and family. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated."

As of Thursday morning, the page had reached their goal of $15,000 and was receiving additional donations by the hour.
