That's an insane amount of money, even for something as beloved and hyped as this film franchise. And experts certainly predicted it would dominate the box office weekend, but did anyone really think that it would surpass the record set by Marvel's The Avengers in 2012? Probably not.
Joss Whedon's superhero party made $207.4 million on its opening weekend, and if you do math real good like we do math real good, you have deduced that that's less than $208 million. Jurassic World is the new record holder for biggest opening weekend of all time! Turns out you don't need Avengers to make lots of money. You need Chris Pratt. And dinosaurs. And the raptor squad!
So how did Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige react to being dethroned as opening weekend box office champ? Did he weep? Begrudgingly and bitterly accept defeat?
Nope, just the opposite.

"Marvel Studios congratulates Jurassic World on being the new opening weekend king!" reads the text on the photo. Feige also tagged Steven Spielberg, Chris Pratt and director Colin Trevorrow in his tweet.

Of course, this photo just makes us desperate for a Jurassic World-Avengers crossover where Owen and his raptor pack fight alongside Iron Man and his team of superheroes. Or maybe they're at war with each other?! Either way, count us in.
