Lamar Odom is understandably still reeling from the loss of his longtime friend, Jamie Sangouthai.

E! News has exclusively learned that while the two "haven't spoken for a year," the former basketball star is "very shaken up."

Sangouthai's death comes as a "huge shock" to Odom, who had known the late 37-year-old since they were just kids.

"It's very scary when someone you know so well dies suddenly," an insider close to Khloé Kardashian's ex tells us. "It's been a wake-up call for Lamar as he realizes that he could personally be in a very different place if he was still as close to Jamie."

And according to our source, the former Lakers star is currently coping with the news of his friend's death surrounded by friends in Las Vegas.

Just yesterday, Khloé took to Twitter shortly after hearing the tragic news of Sangouthai's passing.

"When does it stop?" she wrote Sunday afternoon with a broken heart emoji. "RIP Jamie Sangouthai."

And earlier today, the 30-year-old shared a photo with the following inspirational message: "Life doesn't get easier but I promise you that life will make you stronger."

Khloé also Instagrammed a pic of her in Hawaii that said, "Beyond blessed and I thank God everyday for granting these beautiful blessings upon me. Life is good but even better when you experience it with fantastic people."

Meanwhile, close family friend Malika Haqq also wrote a touching Instagram photo and message to Sangouthai's friends and family.

"Thru good and bad times life shows us every spirit matters and leaves a print on the hearts of others after they have passed," she captioned with a throwback photo. "RIP Jamie Sangouthai #GodHelpUsAll."
