Ryan Guzman is the boy next door no more!

In preparation for his role in NBC's Heroes Reborn, the 27-year-old actor has been hitting the gym to build muscle and lose fat in record time. Guzman, who starred opposite Jennifer Lopez in Universal Pictures' The Boy Next Door this year, has been documenting his progress via his Instagram account.

Two weeks ago, Guzman snapped a picture that showed a handful of vitamins and protein supplements. "Trying to be healthier but damn I wish these were skittles..." he wrote in the photo caption. Six days ago, he took a selfie and wrote, "Been hittin this gym up every day, for almost three months now. I've gained 18lbs so far. I'm starting to really like the changes I see and feel. #nothingcomeseasy #progress."

Guzman, who has yet to reveal his exact diet and fitness plan, gave fans what they wanted over the weekend when she posed shirtless and showed off his six-pack. "Progress selfie... #3months #21lbsgained #hardwork #TheWorkDoesntStopHere," the Texas-born, California-raised actor wrote on Instagram.

It's not yet known which character Guzman will portray in Heroes Reborn. The 13-episode miniseries will introduce a handful of new characters, played by Gatlin Green, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Robbie Kay, Rya Kihlstedt, Zachary Levi, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Danika Yarosh and Henry Zebrowski.

Jack Coleman will return full-time as Noah Bennet, while at least five other stars are confirmed to reprise their roles in guest arcs: Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah Sanders; Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman; Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura; Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh; and Cristine Rose as Angela Petrelli.

Many Heroes fan favorites, including Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere), Nathan Petrelli  (Adrian Pasdar) and Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia), will not appear in the reboot. "I got a new show on Monday nights called The Whispers and I'm focused on that," Ventimiglia recently told E! News of his ABC show.

When the Heroes Reborn miniseries was announced in February 2014, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said, "The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We're thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept."
