"This is what Heaven must be like!"
So said Jimmy Kimmel when the cast of Magic Mike XXL appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Sunday. But unlike their characters in the stripper sequel, the five stars—Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Channing Tatum—showed up to set fully clothed, much to the audience's chagrin.
"Who actually came up with the title Magic Mike XXL?" Kimmel asked.
Tatum replied, "I actually thought the Internet did and I was wrong about that. It was [executive producer Steven Soderbergh]. I don't know. Apparently he's been thinking about the title a lot."
"Were there any other titles in mind?" Kimmel asked. Tatum joked, "There was one, and it was Magic Mike: The Road to Myrtle Beach." The TV host laughed and said, "I think you made the right decision."
Kimmel was also curious whether it was easier for the actors to film the movie "now that you'd seen each other naked in the first one," which was released in 2012. Rodriguez admitted it was "definitely easier," explaining, "I think we got that out of the way early on in the first one. I think this one we were actually looking forward to seeing each other naked." Bomer agreed and added, "We have no boundaries left, and I can't even smell the smell of self-tanner anymore. My olfactories are just gone."
Self-tanning bothered Nash less than waxing. "My first buttock, they started to go towards the cavern and I said, 'I'll pretty much take this at home.' When they started to wax my glute, they kind of do it repetitively, and I'm thinking, 'How much is she getting?' It looked like Lassie was getting groomed!"
Bomer also gave a shout-out to the extras who appear in the movie, saying, "They're the best background actors I've ever worked with because they've sustained us through like three, four days, every take and some of them were just determined they were going to be in the movie. They grabbed, they pawed, and it was welcome amongst us, I think, and they are in the cut." Tatum said "it got dangerous" when extras became overzealous. "Like, some people got hurt!"
Kimmel also asked the cast to reveal their porn names by combining their childhood pet name with their childhood street names. To find out which of the five actors would go by the name Bunny Dixon, watch the video above!
