Ron Moody has passed away.

The British actor, best known for his Golden Globe award-winning performance as Fagin in the 1968 British musical film Oliver!, died this week at the age of 91, the BBC reports.

Moody's wife Therese Blackbourn told British media he would be "greatly missed." "He brought joy to his family and to the hearts of many and will be greatly missed. He was singing until the end," she said. Moody is survived by his widow and six children.

Moody's performance in Oliver! not only garnered him with a Golden Globe win, he was also nominated for an Oscar in 1969. Although he didn't nab the Academy Award, the film did win six Oscars including Best Picture.

Moody also starred in films like Disney's A Kid in King Arthur's Court, The Twelve Chairs and Murder Most Foul. More recently he acted on the BBC soap EastEnders.

Moody worked well into the late stages of his life. "I never thought about settling down," he said in a 2006 interview. "I was obsessed with my career—I was blinkered."

"The age you're at [is the best age] because that's what you are," Moody added. "Make the most of it. Every age has got problems and compensations...The world is always reinventing itself, and so should you. I used to say 'I haven't started yet.'"

News of Moody's death this morning coincides with the tragic passing of fellow British actor Christopher Lee, who also passed away this week at the age of 93.
