The secret to stellar bangs? They're just a blow-dry job away.

Thanks to Hollywood hairstylist and E! Style Collective contributor Glenn Nutley, we now know how to achieve voluminous side-swept bangs à la perennial hair goddess Reese Witherspoon. "My best trick is keeping a small pot of high-definition, translucent powder in your bag with a small brush," the hair pro advised. "Separate your hair [into sections] and dust it into your roots; it's a lot more effective [than dry shampoo] because it becomes completely clear, soaks up oil and gives you a little extra body without blasting the whole hair and having it be too tacky."

Celebrity makeup artists often use translucent powder for touchups, but you can use the product for several things, including mattifying your lip color or boosting mascara usage. It's also lighter and easier to carry than hauling around a can of dry shampoo. "[Translucent powder] is the answer to everything," the pro added.

If dry shampoo is all you have, apply it in small increments; overloading the hair with product not only creates buildup, but can irritate your scalp and leave hair looking limp.

If you do overshoot, consider starting anew with your bangs, using Nutley's quick-cleanse method: "It's actually better to wash your bangs over the sink and start fresh with your bangs if you're not going to wash your whole head," the stylist said. "It will also add a couple extra days [to the life] of your blow-dry."

Once bangs are clean, grab your blow-dryer and begin again. The extra few minutes sacrificed will more than pay off when emerging with the perfect swoop to rival Hollywood's most stylish sweethearts.
