It's going to be vigilante vs. vigilante on Marvel's Daredevil!

E! News has just learned that a major Marvel character is heading to the Netflix drama for season two, and we can hardly contain our geek-gasm: it's The Punisher!

That's right, one of the biggest comic book characters, alias Frank Castle, is about to wage his own personal war on Hell's Kitchen, and we're pretty sure that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) isn't going to be all too happy about that.

So who's going to portray the new mask hitting the streets of NYC?

Jon Bernthal, aka The Walking Dead's Shane!

The Fury star has landed the sure-to-be epic role of The Punisher, a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, "no matter how lethal the results," according to Marvel.

We don't know whether we're excited or completely terrified to see The Punisher and Daredevil in hand-to-hand combat in season two. We do know that if we don't get to see at least one scene of these two vigilantes putting their differences aside to work together to clean up the neighborhood they love so much, that's going to be one major missed opportunity.

And it's clear that Bernthal is as excited as we are about his new role, since he immediately tweeted a selfie while holding up a copy of The Punisher comic book!

Season one of Marvel's hit Netflix show began streaming on the site in April, and stars Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Eldon Henson, Vincent D'Onofrio and Rosario Dawson. The streaming site renewed the series for season two a mere 11 days after the first season premiered, because they knew immediately that they had a hit on their hands!

There are some changes coming in terms of the show's leadership: Drew Goddard and Steven DeKnight are stepping down as showrunners and will be replaced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez who worked closely with DeKnight and Goddard on the first season.

Marvel's Daredevil season two will be available streaming only on Netflix in 2016.
