The Internet can be a cruel place.
Fortunately, the folks at Jimmy Kimmel Live! have been able to find the humor in that cruelty. The ABC late-night show presented its third edition of "Mean Tweets NBA Edition" Thursday, featuring current and former basketball players, coaches and analysts. Magic Johnson kicked things off by reading a tweet from @groneg: "I'm convinced Magic Jackson has approximately 73 teeth in his mouth," the two-time Hall of Famer said before flashing a megawatt smile.
Tony Parker was next, reading a tweet from @famouszamos17: "People say LeBron flops, have you ever seen this little French woman named Tony Parker." The San Antonio Spurs point guard then shrugged at being called a "French woman."
Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Wesley Matthews read a rather harsh tweet from @Patrick_: "Wesley Matthews complains about every foul. Just go eat donuts on the bench you fat f--k." The athlete didn't take too kindly to the offensive tweet, so he replied, "Fat f--k? F--king 6 percent body fat." Later, Chicago Bulls shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler smirked while reading @Mike_'s tweet: "Jimmy Butler looks so ugly bruh look like a face you put on a totem poll bruh lookin like a tiki mask bruh." Draymond Green also laughed after reading @nickb414's tweet, which said he looks like "Donkey from Shrek."
"Imagine the damage Steph Curry would be doing in the NBA if he didn't have such a girly name #changeittosteve," @zcutler45 tweeted. The Golden State Warriors point guard responded, "Steve's a terrible name. Oh, shoot! That's my coach's name." (It's OK. We don't think Steve Kerr will take offense.)
Perhaps the meanest tweet was directed at Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin. "GOODBYE BLAKE GRIFFIN YOU SOFT GINGER HAIR COLORED LINDSEY LOHAN FRECKLED FACE TWO HEADED BITCH TAKE YA ASS HOME BITCH," @staykaziming tweeted. Griffin responded, "Wow, all caps, huh? Maybe throw in some lowercase next time."
Other participants included Andrew Bogut, Marc Jackson, DeAndre Jordan, Jeremy Lin, Reggie Miller, Zack Randolph, Jalen Rose and Jeff Van Gundy.
