Earlier this week, Teresa Giudice, who is currently undergoing a federal prison sentence in Danbury, Conn, spoke out on social media for the first time in five months

"Thank you everyone for all of the cards, letters, and kind words of support," a tweet from her account read on Sunday. "I love, love, love you all xo T!"

Following the Real Housewives of New Jersey star's social media message, there has been some confusion as to whether the 43-year-old star sent the tweet herself from prison.

"Teresa absolutely did not send the tweet herself. She doesn't have access to Twitter," Giudice's attorney James Leonard, Jr. tells E! News.

"The message came from her. She asked her daughter Gia to please post it," Leonard Jr., continues. "She wanted to thank her fans for the hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces of mail that she's received since she's been incarcerated. In particular, she received an outpouring of kind words and support on her birthday. She's truly grateful."

The Bravo star's attorney adds: "While she's finishing her sentence, she may continue to communicate with her fans this way."

The mother of four—daughters Gia Giudice, 13, Gabriela Giudice, 10, Milania Giudice, 8, and Audriana Giudice, 5—began her federal prison sentence at Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn. on January 5. She has been sentenced to 15 months.

"She's taking care of her body, she's taking care of her mind," Leonard Jr. told E! News last month during an exclusive sit-down. "She's making her family's looked after. She's reprioritizing things in her life."

Upon completion of her sentence, Teresa's husband of 15 years, Joe Giudice, 42, will serve 41 months in prison.

"I know she's anxious to come home and join them..." Teresa's attorney added. "It's a one day at a time thing and there's brighter days ahead...She's counting down the days."
