If there's one thing Tracy Morgan is looking forward to, it's making people laugh again.

But as many fans know, the 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live alum was severely injured in a deadly bus crash in July 2014.

Although he suffered brain trauma, a broken leg and broken ribs, Morgan has made huge progress in his road to recovery. So much so that a return to any stage isn't out of the picture.

"I have my good days and my bad days. Sometimes, I don't feel well. Sometimes emotionally I don't feel well and I'm not ready for crowds of people," he admitted to Matt Lauer on Monday's NBC Nightly News. "I'm really focused on my memory coming back to me, my walking getting better, my balance is still off so I have to really focus on those things before I‘m out here."

The "here" he's talking about is his second home at the Saturday Night Live studios in New York City. While the stage brings back "a lot of good memories," Morgan wonders if and when he will have the opportunity to come back.

"I love comedy. I wonder how I'm going to be funny again. How I'm going to get to remembering my identity. What do I do?" he shared in the NBC News exclusive. "The fans let me know we can't wait for you to come back.  They can't wait for me to come back. I can't wait to make them laugh again."

As his healing process continues both physically and emotionally, Morgan is left with enormous gratitude for his support system.

Most importantly, he's thankful that his fiancée Megan Wollover and daughter weren't traveling with him the day of the accident.

"When I look at that footage, I know my baby wouldn't have survived…She was a baby," he admitted through tears. "She done nothing to nobody. So I thank God that I'm here and I'm able to play with my daughter."
