The Internet has been going in on this mystery man after the above picture of him proposing to his girlfriend during someone else's wedding popped up on Reddit. And at first, it's totally understandable.

What guy steals someone's thunder like that? Why did he have to do it on a day that's meant to celebrate someone else's love—and right in front of the newlyweds' table, nonetheless? Why couldn't he have just taken his girlfriend to the park and surprised her with a flash mob like everyone else?

These are all valid thoughts, and humanity agrees that the act of proposing to your significant other on someone else's special day is classless and rude.

(Please refer to the bottom tweets as sufficient evidence. You now know better.)

However, this particular case isn't as selfish as you might think.

It turns out that it was the bride's idea to have him pop the question at her nuptials, because the woman he's proclaiming his love to is her sister!

"My fiancé told her he didn't want to ruin their day and she insisted it would only make it better!" the newly engaged woman told the New York Daily News. "The groom of the wedding actually held my engagement ring the entire trip! Everyone in the Reddit picture knew the proposal was going to happen except for me!"

She adds that her beau was originally planning to propose at the beach, but her sister insisted that he do it at the ceremony.

See! He wasn't being a douche at all.
