It's all for you, Janet Jackson!

To celebrate his wife's 49th birthday, Qatari business magnate Wissam Al Mana decided to throw her a surprise party at L.A.'s Hyde Lounge on May 16. "She was thinking they were going to have sushi and a simple date night," a source tells E! News of the six-time Grammy winner, who's recording a new album.

In fact, Katsuya catered the event because Janet "wanted to eat sushi!"

The source adds, "When she arrived in the venue with her husband and bodyguard, they escorted her to the patio where her closest friends and some family members were waiting for her with a big surprise!" Jermaine Jackson was among those in attendance, and yes, he was wearing head-to-toe Louis Vuitton.

According to the source, Janet "had two beautiful cakes" and "was super nice with the staff." Though the source describes it as a "mellow" party, many guests "were dancing until about 1:30 a.m.!" Janet reached out to her fans four days later, tweeting, "Thanks for all the love and birthday wishes!" The singer has not been in the spotlight much since releasing her 10th studio album, Discipline, in 2008.

When rumors that she was making music swirled in August, Janet tweeted, "If there is a new project, you'll hear it from my lips." Earlier this month, in a 32-second video, the "Escapade" singer announced her comeback. "I promised you'd hear it from my lips. And now you will. This year. New music. New world tour. A new movement," Janet teased. "I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going."

Us Weekly first reported about Janet's birthday Wednesday.
