Dwayne Johnson is a naughty boy.
I caught up with The Rock last night at the premiere of his new action disaster flick San Andreas (in theaters on May 29).
After complementing me on my bow tie, he revealed that, yes, he knows how to tie one, too.
"I do know how to tie myself—on a Friday night," he said with a big grin.
When I offered, " Fifty Shades of The Rock," he beamed, "Fifty-one!"
Johnson's big surprise at the premiere was his arrival to the red carpet screening at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
A rescue helicopter circled above him as he rolled down Hollywood Boulevard while hanging off the side of a Los Angeles Fire Department fire truck.
"It was amazing, right?" Johnson said. "That's the way you make an entrance. The movie is big. It's an epic movie. You're gotta make an entrance like that."
Johnson stars in the Brad Peyton-directed film as a rescue chopper pilot who tries to rescue his estranged daughter (Alexandra Daddario) after two earthquakes strike California. They're so big (9.1 and 9.6 on the Richter Scale!) that even the East Coast feels them. (Don't worry, seismologists have been quick to shoot down the possibility of quakes of this size ever happening in the Golden State.)
"I've spent time with the LAFD prior to the role," Johnson said. "We wanted to come in and make something amazing. I see I didn't mess up your hair, [but] all the women are complaining."
Carla Gugino, who plays Johnson's ex-wife in the movie, remembers when the Northridge quake struck in 1994.
"I didn't know what was happening," she said. "I could not find my clothes. I was about to run out fully naked in my birthday suit, but I finally found a little robe on the ground. I'll admit that I have never slept naked in California since. New York [is a] different story. But I've learned my lesson."
