There's a trend in fashion campaigns right now and surprisingly it has nothing to do with 20-something supermodels. Sure, those gals are still getting gigs (just look at Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne's recent work), but big name designers are also going hard for the over-50 crowd. We're talking icons like Joni Mitchell, Donatella Versace and Joan Didion.
So it's no surprise that Marc Jacobs hit up one the most famous divas in the world for his Fall 2015 campaign. Yup, Cher. And at 69, the singer's still got it. (As if you ever doubted that fact!)
The first ad—shot by David Sims—shows our beloved idol clad in an all black ensemble including a leather jacket, gown and gloves. She gives the camera a fierce, all-knowing side eye, as if to say: Yeah, it's me. You already know.
Jacobs, 52, and Cher attended this year's Met Gala together just a few weeks prior. The designer—who had Jessica Lange, 64, star in his beauty campaigns last year—gushed to the New York Times of collaborating with his idol on that night. "Very rarely am I this intimidated," he shared, adding: "This has been a dream of mine for a very, very long time."
Oh, and apparently this is just the beginning. Marc uploaded this ad to his Instagram this morning and carefully captioned it: "The first face of our Fall '15 ad campaign." Meaning, there's more to come…Stay tuned!
