When allowing the media to photograph your headquarters, it's best to take down offensive, fat-shamming cartoons. But it's better if you never had them up to begin with.

That's a lesson that the folks at Lilly Pulitzer are learning right about now. You see on Monday, The Cut published "Inside Lilly Pulitzer's Pink-and-Green Headquarters" a gallery featuring the fashion brand's office and staff.  Almost immediately, readers went from cooing over Olivia Maurer (an adorable 14-month girl featured in the slideshow) to booing over a photograph of two snarky cartoons.

One illustration reads: "Just another day of…Fat White and Hideous. You should probably just kill yourself…" And the second one says "Put It Down Carb Face." You can see them both here.

The backlash spilled over from the site's comments section to Twitter where people wrote that they found the images to be "disappointing," "hateful," "awful and sad."

This of course comes just a few months after the brand upset fans by announcing they would not be selling plus-size items from their Target collection in stores.

In response, Jane Schoenborn, Vice President of Creative Communications for the label shared the following statement with E! News today:

"These illustrations were the work of one individual and were posted in her personal work area. While we are an employer that does encourage people to decorate their own space, we are a female-dominated company and these images do not reflect our values. We apologies for any harm this may have caused."
