One year after Hayden Panettiere ventured into the waters of Taiji, Japan, to protest the slaughtering of whales and dolphins in the area, the Heroes star is commemorating that event by asking folks to take part in a petition to help stop commercial whaling and to enforce the current global whaling moratorium.

"I need you to go to SocialVibe.com and choose the Whaleman Foundation as your charity. By adding SocialVibe to your MySpace, your Facebook, your blog, whatever it is you do online, we will earn donations to the cause without you even having to pay a single cent," says Hayden. "Our goal is to get 1 million of you to sign up by the June 2009 meeting of the International Whaling Commission, where I will personally deliver the petition."

Hayden's PSA is a follow-up to her trip to Washington, D.C., over the weekend, where the 19-year-old actress spoke at a rally on behalf of the Save the Whales Again! campaign.
