George Clooney's elaborate wedding to Amal Clooney may have been the stuff of dreams, but reality set in when the two were on their honeymoon.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the newlywed actor explained how his romantic getaway was cut short due to work obligations for his latest flick, Tomorrowland.

It turns out that George was asked to promote the just-released Disney movie at Comic-Con in New York last year, right smack dab in the middle of his vacation.

"I got the call while on my honeymoon and was told it was really important that I fly in," he explained on the late-night program.

"First, I had to explain that to my wife which didn't play well. And then, the whole idea of spending part of your honeymoon with people dressed up like Captain Kirk and Star Wars characters somehow wasn't easy to explain to my new bride…But, I showed up and it was actually fun."

Just a few days ago, the 54-year-old dished about his proposal to the brunette beauty during an interview with Charlie Rose for CBS This Morning.

"When I asked her, you know, we'd never talked about it....there wasn't like a, 'Maybe we should get married' [conversation]," he explained. "I dropped it on her!"

"I asked her, and she just kept saying, 'Oh my, God,' and 'Wow,' and we just sat there," he said. "And finally, I just said, 'Listen, I'm 53 at the time, or 52 at the time, I think. I said, 'I've been on my knee for about 28 minutes so I gotta get an answer out of this because I'm gonna throw a hip out!"

And the rest, as they say, is history!
