With an event as star-studded as the Met Gala, awkward run-ins are inevitable. Weeks ago, Selena Gomez attended the event and wowed in Vera Wang, while her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber suited up in Balmain. "Is it true that you helped Selena Gomez avoid Justin Bieber at the Met Ball?" a Watch What Happens Live viewer asked Vanessa Hudgens Thursday. "Ooh!" host Andy Cohen said. "I read that!"

Hudgens asked, "Getting spicy now, aren't we?"

Cohen wanted the gossip, so he asked, "Is that true?"

"I mean, not really," said Hudgens, who's starring on Broadway in Gigi.

Fellow guest Kellan Lutz teased her, asking, "Is it true? Is it true?"

"She's one of my best friends and you just want to have your girlfriend's back, so that's what I did," Hudgens said of her Spring Breakers co-stars. "We didn't, like, try to avoid him or anything. I mean, no one really wants to see your ex-boyfriend."

Alleged drama aside, "We had a lot of fun," Hudgens said. "I sat with Janelle Monaé and Bangs—just such incredible artists who are the most beautiful kindred spirits. Just amazing souls. I was so happy." She added that Rihanna "was great."

After the Met Gala, both Gomez and Bieber attended Rihanna's after-party at Up & Down in New York City. At the time, a source told E! News that the exes "exchanged some words" but mostly kept to themselves that night. The source also said Bieber spent most of the night "dancing and having a great time with his friends."

"He hung out with [Kendall Jenner] and that crew a bit as well," the source said.

After he left the party, Bieber was caught on video giving a shout-out to his ex. "Selena looked gorgeous at the Met Ball!" he yelled to the paparazzi.
