Move over, Darren Criss!

Broadway already has casted its next Hedwig for Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and it's Taye Diggs! Idina Menzel's ex-husband will take over for the Glee alum starting July 22, according to the New York Times.

"Taye is fantastic—he has theater cred, he has pop culture cred, he can sing, he can act, he can dance, he's smart and he's sexy," said lead producer David Binder to the NYT. "That's why we cast him."

This wouldn't be Diggs' first appearance on Broadway, as he also appeared in the original cast of Rent. He also has co-starred in films such as How Stella Got Her Groove Back and TV shows such as Private Practice, so there's no shortage of acting experience. He will be the first African-American to play the title character in New York.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch follows the character Hedwig, an East German musician, after he undergoes a botched sex change operation and moves to Kansas. Prior to Criss taking over the role, Neil Patrick Harris starred in the revival when it returned to the stage in April 2014. The show won four Tony Awards, including one for best musical revival.
