When Carole Radziwill described this season of The Real Housewives of New York City as "Shakespearean," she really wasn't kidding. Old foes returned, friends have become enemies, people have gotten wasted, people have been left in foyers, Twitter wars were launched and so much more.

If you follow the show, and chances are you do because you're reading this, you know Carole began dating Countess Luann de Lessps' chef, who also happens to be the ex-boyfriend of Luann's niece. Luann has taken her beef from the confessionals to Twitter and gone after Carole and costar Heather Thomson. So what exactly is going on?

"I wish I knew," Heather told us at the NBCUniversal Cable Upfronts. "Luanna is gone and all we have is the Countess and that's not attractive to me."

The three grew close during the filming of last season, even socializing when the cameras weren't rolling. "When Luann was demoted and she came back on the show, I was a true friend to her. I invited her to all my scenes and was there to support her, to show the world the Lu—how I call her Lu—that I knew was in there and existed, but that was really just a short-lived thing," Heather said. "The Countess, like I said, has reared her ugly head and it's not at all attractive or interesting to me whatsoever."

During recent episodes, Luann has sent several tweets, according to Carole they've been "female-bashing hate-tweets."

"I was just as surprised as everyone else," Carole said. "I think she saw an opportunity to make some noise in the press and she took it and I don't really play that game.  I think you'll see in the show—what she's saying on Twitter does not pan out on the show, we were very friendly up until the end."

Up until the end? Carole is referring to the cast trip to Turks and Caicos where things got wild. Wild, funny and dramatic—"A lot of martinis!" Heather said—for the Real Housewives of New York City.

"There is some sort of…difference of opinion about some of the events that took place in Turks and Caicos. She said a lot of pretty nasty things towards the end of the season about me, but I don't know where that came from," Carole said. "That's just all made up stories. I don't even know how to respond to it."

Countess Luann told us the fallout began with Carole dating Adam Kenworthy. "Well, they crossed the line and when you cross the line and affect my family, that's a problem for me," Luann told us. "It's too close for comfort and she knows that and I'm over it and I'm moving on, but there's an instance in Turks and Caicos where she does something else."

Yet Carole maintains Luann's niece was in a relationship—and still is—with another gentleman and was not seeing Adam when she began dating him, despite what Luann has tweeted. Can they ever come back from this? Depends on who you ask.

"Well, there's always a way back," Luann said. "If there's an apology, there's always a way back."

"We have not filmed the reunion yet. It's going to be a doozy," Heather said. "I will never look at Luann the way that I did, when someone cuts you that deep…I'll always be professional with Luann, but she'll never have my heart again."

The Real Housewives of New York City airs Tuesdays, 9 p.m. on Bravo.
