As the saying goes, don't fix what isn't broken!
E! News confirms that Kate Beckinsale has signed onto reprise her role in the fifth installment of Underworld. She will continue to play leather-clad vampire Selene. Theo James is also set to return as David from the fourth film, with Cory Goodman penning the script.
Although plot details are being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter says the forthcoming movie will focus "on a new and younger generation of vampires and werewolves who are locked in a seemingly never-ending battle between supernatural races."
The movie will shoot in Prague this October.
The first Underworld came out in 2003 and followed Beckinsale's Selene, a vampire "death dealer" caught in the war between vampires and Lycans. It was followed by Underworld: Evolution in 2006, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans in 2009 and Underworld: Awakening in 2012.
Adding to Beckinsale's casting news is the announcement that Anna Foerster would be directing the upcoming installment, marking the first time a woman has been at the helm of a female-led horror franchise, according to THR, which first broke the news of Beckinsale's casting. Foerster has also worked on The Day After Tomorrow and White House Down.
Supernatural has been the name of the game for the brunette beauty, who will also be appearing in the thriller The Disappointments Room.
