George Clooney is not OK with David Letterman retiring.

He's so not OK, in fact, that on CBS' Late Show Thursday, the 54-year-old Oscar winner handcuffed himself to the soon-to-be-retiring star—and threw away the key!

It began when Letterman, 68, tried to get Clooney to open up about the many "wonderful things [that] have happened" since the two men last saw each other.

"Yeah, a lot of wonderful things have happened," Clooney acknowledged, but he quickly changed the topic. "What are you doing?"

"I'm talking about your lovely wife [Amal Clooney]," Letterman began.

"No, I understand," Clooney said. "I don't want to talk about that!"

It was at this moment that the Tomorrowland star asked the late-night host for his wrist, and in a quick flash, Clooney handcuffed himself to Letterman.

Letterman protested, but it didn't get him very far.

"No, no, no, NO," Clooney replied, hurling the key into the audience. "You're not going anywhere, David Letterman."

"I need to talk to my lawyer," Letterman joked. "Now, George, is this [the handcuffs] something left over from the bachelor days?"

This got a laugh out of Clooney, who didn't exactly answer the question one way or another. He changed the topic back once again, though, telling Letterman, "You're not going anywhere!"

"Well, neither are you," suggested the late-night host.

"That's true, too," said Clooney. "I hadn't thought this through. It could make for an awkward evening..."

Ah, but isn't that what makes late-night great?! Watch the funny interchange for yourself in the clip above! Letterman's final Late Show airs this Wednesday at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
