Ladies and gentlemen, we finally have a real True Detective season two trailer!

HBO released a minute-long promo for the highly-anticipated sophomore outing of the critically-acclaimed series last month, but it was really just a montage of Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams looking grim set to a haunting soundtrack. This time, the trailer actually gives us a good look at what the season is actually going to be about.

Fair warning: it's dark. It's gritty. And it's totally awesome.

Watch the just-released True Detective season two trailer below now:

"Sometimes your worst self is your best self," Vaughn's character Frank Semyon, a criminal entrepreneur, says ominously in the dramatic trailer.

Don't be deceived by the sunny SoCal locations: season two might top season one and be the bleakest season of TV ever.

"My strong suspicion is, we get the world we deserve," Farrell's compromised detective Ray Velcoro grumbles.

Think Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh, a war vet and motorcycle cop, or McAdams' Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff's detective, might bring in some lightness to the show? You thought wrong. Prepare to get hooked, because True Detective is pulling no punches this season.

The new season kicks off on Sunday, June 21 on HBO with Justin Lin helming the first two episodes of the season and Nic Pizzolatto scripting.
