Melissa Rivers isn't happy with the way Kathy Griffin's Fashion Police exit went down.

During an interview with Today's Hoda Kotb yesterday, the Book of Joan author admitted that the outspoken redhead wasn't the best replacement for her late mother, Joan Rivers.

"It wasn't a match on a lot of levels," she admitted. "My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of s--t all over my mother's legacy in her statement on leaving, and I know that was not an intentional reading of it, but that's how I felt. That was my takeaway, by [her] calling the comedy and the style of it old-fashioned. It's like, I understand what you're doing, you're trying to save yourself, but don't crap all over my mother to do it."

Melissa added, "That was very personal. But as a professional, that was her choice, that's what she did. No hard, no foul, moving on."

And during another interview with The Huffington Post's Caitlyn Becker, the executive producer of the hit E! show addressed the social media movement urging reporters to ask female celebs on awards season red carpets more than just fashion-related questions.

"This whole 'Ask Me More'—I get it, but let's keep it in perspective…You're getting $30,000 to $40,000 dresses for free. You're supposed to say the designer's name. But if you want to go out and buy your dress, and not have to worry about anything asking you about it, and not having to promote anyone, fine!"

She continued, "Let's talk about something else! But no one really wants to discuss massive policies on the red carpet. And you say, ask me more than just my dress, OK. Did you pay for it? If there's something interesting going on or you want to get out a message…absolutely. But let's not carry it so far that it's an insult to ask who you're wearing."
