Forget about YA romance novels. It's now all about the comic books!
20th Century Fox has confirmed to E! News that The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone is making a deal to write and direct the next standalone spinoff of the X-Men movie universe.
Titled The New Mutants, the series introduces a new crop of mutant characters born with special powers.
"We're so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh," producer Simon Kinberg said in a statement. "[He] is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters."
Boone's most recent directing project was in fact The Fault in Our Stars, which was a huge hit for young readers and moviegoers alike.
The adaption of John Green's novel grossed more than $307 million worldwide and helped give Ansel Elgort and Nat Wolff a major presence in Hollywood.
While he found huge success with romantic films, Boone has always been a longtime comic-book fan. According to Entertainment Weekly, the Hollywood director was responsible for pitching the new X-Men spinoff.
The publication also described the project's tone as "John Hughes meets Stephen King" or towards horror and the supernatural. It may be a turn from his latest work, but we are seriously into it!
