Dr. Oz's TV show has faced its fair share of criticism lately, but no one can say anything bad about his heroic actions this past weekend.

The cardiothoracic surgeon and Columbia University professor (full name: Dr. Mehmet Oz) stopped on the New Jersey turnpike Saturday night to help victims of a car crash near Exit 6. As Westhampton Chief Jason Carty told NJ.com, Dr. Oz had been driving ahead of the vehicle when it crashed, but he stopped to run back and administer aid as needed.

Dr. Oz was inside the vehicle helping to stabilize a victim's spine when emergency responders got to the scene, Carty said. "He gave a very thorough report on both victims conditions and injuries," he added.

Carty described Dr. Oz as "very professional and helpful," adding, "He could've kept going, but being the guy he is, he stopped and rendered aid."

According to NJ.com, both victims in the single vehicle crash sustained only minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Westhampton Township Emergency Services posted a photo to their Facebook page of Dr. Oz and firefighter/EMT Vincent Knott, who also responded to the scene. "Dr. Oz was not involved in the accident but stopped and gave care to the patients until emergency crews arrived to treat and transport the patients to the hospital," they noted. "Dr. Mehmet Oz we thank you!"

This, of course, isn't the first time Dr. Oz has gone out of his way to help a stranger with his medical expertise. In 2013 alone, he rushed to the aid of a woman hit by a taxi outside of his New York City office, rescued a woman stuck in her car and saved a fallen marathon runner.

He's a good samaritan if ever there was one!
