Canadian TV Reporter Confronts Men Shouting Sexist, Vulgar "FHRITP" Insult at Her—Watch Now

CityNews' Shauna Hunt didn't think the offensive meme was funny, and neither did one of the offender's employers

You're probably familiar with the "FHRITP" meme—the acronym stands for "F--k her right in the p--sy," and over the past year plus, there's been an unfortunate, viral trend of (mostly) men interrupting female reporters' live shots shouting out these vulgarities.

This happens to CityNews reporter Shauna Hunt on a regular basis, and when a group of men did this Sunday at the Toronto FC soccer game (they thought she was taping a live segment, but she was not actually on the air when these interactions took place), she took action. Hunt confronted the men hurling out these obscenities, and the cameras kept right on rolling.

"So were you guys waiting around to see if you could 'F her in the P' me live on TV?" she asked.

"Not you, but yes," answered one of the guys.

"You were. Seriously?" she asked. "Can I ask why you would want to do something like that?"

"Uh," he said, grinning, "I feel like it's quite substantial...."

"No, seriously, it's a disgusting thing to say," Hunt replied. "It's degrading to women...You would humiliate me on live television?"

"Not you," he said, before asking in apparent disbelief, "Are you actually filming this?"

"[Yes] because I'm sick of this," Hunt answered. "I get this every single day, 10 times a day, by rude guys like you..."

"It has nothing to do with you," suggested the man. "It has everything to do with everyone else."

"When you talk into my microphone and say that into my camera to viewers at the station I work at, it is disrespectful and degrading to me," she replied.

Another of the men laughingly piped in, saying, "I don't care. It's f--king hilarious!"

This man went on to cite other incidences of the vulgarity being slurred at female reporters, telling Hunt, "You're lucky there's not a vibrator here!"

Disgusting, yes, and Hunt and her crew weren't the only ones who took note. According to CBC.ca, one of the men's employers saw the footage and "is taking steps to terminate the employee for violating our Code of Conduct."

Actions have consequences. But as Hunt later explained on Breakfast Television, another CityNews program, she's "just glad that we're having this conversation."

"That was the point of going big with this story and getting out there," she explained. "It's not about me, it's not about me vilifying them, it's just an example of what we deal with."
