Blythe Danner is one proud mama!

The 72-year-old actress appeared on NBC's Today Wednesday, where she opened up to co-host Natalie Morales about spending Mother's Day with her children, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Paltrow, on Sunday. "I was traveling both coasts. I went from L.A. where they are to New York where my son and his wife and little baby girl are. I was very lucky to have the whole family within 24 hours," she said.

Blythe was also asked about her daughter's polarizing public persona. "I am so blessed that I'm old. I know how to get online. I don't know how to Twitter, toot, tweet. I don't know how to do any of it, and I don't look for it, because I know so much of it is just trying to sell papers or whatever that's called over the Internet. I know that she's the most extraordinary girl who can do everything. Incredible mother! She's raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for my husband's oral cancer foundation—things she doesn't talk about a lot. She's becoming a great environmentalist. I'm so proud of her," she gushed. "I think she's so accomplished that people get kind of intimidated by it. Great cook, great mom, great actress."

"And my son is pretty fabulous, too!" Blythe added. "A great writer."

Blythe was on the show to promote her new movie, I'll See You in My Dreams, in which she plays a widow who decides to embrace life anew. Though she's appeared in many Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, this was her first leading role ever. "What a way to celebrate!" Blythe said. "It's such a gift."

"Every so often I'd get a role in a movie and I'd be so grateful, but I never expected this," she said of the favorable response to the film.

The actress received a standing ovation when the film was screened during the Sundance Film Festival. "I think now that the baby boomer generation is coming along now, everyone is longing for films like this. I think women are so appreciative to see that this is a woman in her 70s taking charge and being strong, continuing through her difficult time of loss, and carrying on in a very positive way," Blythe told Today. "This film, even though people are in tears, they laugh their heads off."
