Ross Gellar has left the building. And David Schwimmer is not taking his return to TV lightly.

Cast as Robert Kardashian in FX's new true crime anthology series, American Crime Story: The People V OJ Simpson, Schwimmer tells E! News he spoke on the phone with Kris Jenner  at length in order to prepare for his role has her late husband.

"I was lucky enough to speak with Kris for a few hours," Schwimmer told me at the FOX upfront in NYC. "She was very generous with her time, just telling me about who Robert was."

Schwimmer says he "highly doubts" that Kris was in on the casting that broke yesterday, that Selma Blair will play Kris in the anthology series, which focuses on the OJ Simpson murder trial.

"I highly doubt it, but she was very generous of her time and spoke very highly of Robert…I'm excited to explore that relationship with Selma. She's fantastic."

Schwimmer, along with John TravoltaSara Paulson, and Cuba Gooding Jr. all have signed on for season one, which is based on a book by Jeffrey Toobin who covered the trial for The New Yorker. Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are helming the series.
