Miley Cyrus has been involved in some high-profile relationships, but she doesn't let them define her.

Even though she found herself engaged to Liam Hemsworth and recently split with boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger, the "We Can't Stop" singer told Time that she is "OK" with being single. "It has a lot to do with being a feminist, but I'm finally OK with being alone," she said. "I think that's something we have to talk about more: that you can be alone."

Although she wouldn't turn down a companion, she said that being comfortable with your single relationship status is something that everyone should aspire to because it's a new kind of independence.

"There are times in my life where I've had boyfriends or girlfriends. And there are times where I just love being with myself and don't want to give part of myself away to someone else," she explained to the magazine. "I think that's a new freedom for women, especially. I don't know that my mother would have been able to be 22 and secure in being alone."

She has learned so much about herself through life experiences and relationships that she is comfortable in saying that being happy isn't dependent on having someone to share her life with.

"My future doesn't rely on having a partner," she said.

Earlier this week in an interview promoting her Happy Hippie Foundation, the 22-year-old crooner revealed that she has had relationships that weren't "straight, heterosexual" ones. She later elaborated on her sexuality in a Facebook chat with fans, saying that she doesn't want to be confined to labels.

"I never want to label myself! I am ready to love anyone that loves me for who I am! I am open," she responded with a smiley face.

After splitting with Schwarzenegger, Cyrus took to Instagram to flaunt that she had most definitely moved on. Posting pictures of herself kissing both men and women, Cyrus made it clear that she isn't wallowing from heartbreak. A source confirmed to E! News that she was getting over it, saying, "Miley is totally fine. She's definitely moving on. He was very young and that soured the relationship."
