Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Are Still Living Their Lives Separately, and It's Not Cool

They were both spotted out and about...separately

The line, "we were on a break," sounds better than ever, considering the famous phrase indicates the "break" is in the past and the two people involved are back together. But Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield continue to taunt us with their separateness, and we're not OK with it.

Each was spotted out and about doing his and her own thing, and we just wish they would run their errands together like other couples we came to know and love. Sadly, they still seem to be on a break, and by the transitive property, it's breaking our hearts.

To be fair, the Oscar-nominated actress looked pretty happy while trying to balance sneakers, water, workout gear and her phone, so maybe she's doing A-OK without her longterm boyfriend. If the smile we're witnessing is just an optical illusion, the endorphins produced from her workout (we assume) will get her feeling better in no time.

The former Amazing Spider-Man star also looked pretty happy while participating in a press conference with Martin Scorsese to promote their new movie, Silence, in Taiwan. Although, it was a little tough to notice his grin behind all that facial hair! He grew out his locks for the role, in which he plays a Portuguese Jesuit missionary who is persecuted along with other Christians in 17th-century Japan.

Had it not been for this role, we would've been forced to assume that he's not taking the breakup well, and then we would have to try to convince them to be back together. Wasn't that why Stone was carrying a shopping bag out of her stylist's office building with his name on it?!

Alas, there are probably multiple explanations as to why she would carry something like that, but we can hope it's because maybe Garfield left something behind and she went and picked it up for him because she's going to see him soon...because they're in love and happy and together again, forever?

Probably not, but we can all dream of a day when they're back together and all is right in the world. Sources confirmed to E! News in early April that the two had hit the pause button.

But is this nightmare over yet?
