Warning: major spoilers below! Do not continue reading until you've watched the Gotham season one finale, "All Happy Families Are Alike."

Gotham's Fish Mooney is officially sleeping with the fishes.

When Jada Pinkett Smith first announced that she was leaving Gotham after season one, fans immediately began speculating on how she would exit the show. Would Fish get killed, or would she leave Gotham after failing in her mission to become the number one crime boss? And in tonight's bloody season one finale, viewers finally learned exactly why she wouldn't be around for the already-renewed season two: she's dead!

Fox

After rejoining the mob war between Falcone and Maroni, Fish shot Maroni point blank in the head after he wouldn't stop his sexist remarks about how she would always be number two under him, and even wouldn't stop laughing and calling her "babes." It was the shot we all saw coming, because Maroni's insults were just plain stupid. She was holding a gun the entire time he was pissing her off, of course she was going to pull the trigger!

But that game-changing shot incited an all-out shooting war, until only the Penguin, Butch and Fish were left (Falcone decided he was going to retire somewhere down south, away from all the violence). Butch got confused over who he was supposed to follow, and shot both of them, non-fatally.

That led the Penguin to push Fish off the rooftop in which they were having their final face-off, and she screamed all the way down until she crashed into the water. Now, it could be argued that since this is a TV show, and we didn't actually see her body when she died, she could technically still be alive.

But since Smith made it clear that she was done with Gotham after her once year contract ended, it's safe to say that Fish Mooney is officially out of the running for the head of Gotham's crime business. That title officially goes to the Penguin now, as he declared himself the "King of Gotham" after killing Fish. That shot overlooking the city? Ominous.

But the Penguin's going to need to watch his back, since young Bruce Wayne found his father's secret tunnel in Wayne Manor, leading to what every Batman fan knows will become the Bat Cave. That's right, Bruce's journey to becoming Batman, just like Edward Nygma's journey to becoming the Riddler, has officialy begun!
