Step aside, horses. Larry Birkhead and daughter Dannielynn Birkhead may have been the true stars at the 2015 Kentucky Derby!

The father-daughter duo followed family tradition and stepped out Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs to watch American Pharoah take home the top prize.

But before any winner was crowned, the twosome made quite the dynamic duo on the red carpet.

"My look was the worst because this is the greatest two minutes in sports but it was the worst two months of my life trying to pick this out," Larry joked to E! News. "When dad gets older, it gets harder to pull it together."

He continued, "[Dannielynn] kept telling me beige suit, pink suit, beige suit, hat, no hat and at the end, I just had to go with it."

In the end, the eight-year-old settled on a pink Monsoon dress with a floral headband and sandals. Meanwhile, Larry chose to match his daughter with the pink ensemble.

"She's easy because she looks good in everything," Larry told Alicia Quarles. "I figured you can't go wrong in pink."

Fashion aside, both Larry had high hopes that Frosted was going to race his way to first place. After all, Dannielynn has a history of being right on the money.

"She's my good luck charm," Larry explained before the race began. "She picks all the winners."

Unfortunately, Frosted ended up in fourth place. There's always next year, guys!
