It's been a veritable whirlwind of a weekend for all the royal watchers. (And for the Royal Family themselves, we suppose). With the labor announcement, birth announcement and big reveal coming in rapid succession there was all kinds of royal baby excitement.

And then we waited. And waited and waited.

Finally today Kate and Will got off their lazy bums and picked a name for their new bundle of joy. She'll be called Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, or Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge for short. (Yes short). But in the midst of all this pomp and circumstance and people who are taking the whole affair way too seriously, there's a sizable contingent having a whole lot of fun with the baby announcement.

It's not that these people have disdain for the little nugget, but rather they see all the royal baby craziness as an opportunity to crack a few jokes. After all, when your short name has no less than seven words, things have gotten a bit ridiculous.

These jokesters have taken to Twitter to air their funnies, and the jokes range from groan-inducing to actually laugh-worthy (Princess Consuela Banana Hammock, that's you!). Some royal comics poked fun at the aging traditions associated with the royal family, some went the inevitable Sex and the City route, and others decided to point out the slightly awkward placement of both Prince Charles and Princess Diana's namesakes.

Read along below, and feel free to steal a few of these for your own Twitter page.
