Kate Middleton and Prince William will soon be headed home with their newborn princess!
Palace officials made the announcement on Saturday afternoon, hours after she gave birth to the second royal baby.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 33, welcomed her and William's first daughter and younger sister of Prince George, early that morning. William, 32, later drove home to Kensington Palace, located less than two miles away, to collect their son, then brought him back to St. Mary's Hospital to visit his mother and new sister.
"Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge will be leaving St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington this evening," the royal couple's Twitter page stated on Saturday afternoon local time. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their daughter will travel home to Kensington Palace.
Upon arrival at the hospital, William and George were greeted with cheers from the scores of fans who had flocked to the area over the past couple of weeks in anticipation of the second royal baby's arrival. The doting dad and his son waved to the crowd as they made their way inside.
"Prince George has now returned to Kensington Palace," the royal couple's Twitter page stated. "Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank all staff at the hospital for the care and treatment they have all received. They would also like to thank everyone for their warm wishes."
William and Kate's new daughter is the first princess to be born into the extended British royal family in 25 years. Fans, celebs and even the British Royal Navy posted congratulatory messages to them on Twitter throughout the day, while the baby's great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, dressed perfectly for the happy occasion.
