By now, the world knows that the royal baby has been born!
Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their second child, a daughter, Saturday. Kensington Palace released a statement and tweeted the news, saying, "The baby weighs 8 lbs., 3 oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth."
The baby girl joins big brother Prince George, 21 months.
Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Duchess Camilla, Prince Harry and "members of both families have been informed," the palace added. "Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are "absolutely delighted" at the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's daughter, Clarence House said.
The princess' name will be announced in due time.
She shares a birthdate with royalty, too! Russia's Catherine the Great, who was crowned in 1762 and ruled until just months before her death 1796, was born on May 2, 1729.
