Marc Anthony is a singer, husband, father, and much more—but whatever you do, don't call him a crossover.

The crooner opened up to Today's Natalie Morales about his roots just hours before his highly anticipated performance at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Anthony admitted that he began singing as "literally a baby" and added, "I was three years old when I started singing with my father and I would imitate my father singing."

But still to this day, Anthony feels he's been mislabeled as a "crossover" and has an issue with the idea of musicians being pegged into one genre altogether.

"It's become the status quo, 'Oh, you're a crossover.' From where? Where do you think I'm from? I was born on 102nd Street and Third Avenue in Manhattan, New York City," he explained.

"In other words, you don't belong here but it's good enough for us to accept. I never got that [idea]. I don't recognize it."

Anthony joins a long list of performers at tonight's main event including ex-wife Jennifer Lopez, Carlos Vives, Natalia Jimenez and many, many more.
