D.L. Hughley may be known around the world as one of The Original Kings of Comedy, but the actor showed his more vulnerable side during a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The media mogul caught up with Hughley for an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? and he opened up about his family life—specifically his son Kyle's Asperger's syndrome.

The proud father became overwhelmed with emotion when discussing how Kyle, 26, was diagnosed as a child but has faced his challenges head-on and with a positive attitude over the years.

"He graduated from college but everything has to be the same," D.L. explained. "He goes to work at the same time. He eats the same thing."

One day, Kyle surprised his dad when he volunteered to break from his regimented routine to put gas in the comedian's car.

"He said, 'Daddy, I'll do it,'" he told the cameras. "I'm a nervous break…So he comes back in and he gives me the receipt and the keys."

D.L. wipes the tears away from his face and takes a moment before finishing his emotional story.

"And I could not stop crying, because he did something he was afraid to do. I just didn't believe he could do it. He did it," the comedian said.

"I held him and I said, 'You're gonna be all right.' And I think sometimes I don't know for sure, but he's gonna be fine. He'll be fine."
