Watch: Mark Ballas Calls Willow Shields a Role Model

Are we watching the same Dancing With the Stars, because why did Willow Shields just get sent home? The Hunger Games star, who at just 14 has been wowing audiences and the DWTS judges along with partner Mark Ballas, was sent home on Monday.

"It's a little shocking, yeah," Willow told us after the show. But the actress is leaving with her head held high and some amazing memories. She said her seven weeks on Dancing With the Stars were the "most incredible experience" of her life. But wait, she's just 14. "And I'm 14 and I'm saying I know when I'm older, I'll still look back on this and [think about] how exciting and memorable it was," she said.

For their final dance, Mark and Willow were futuristic ninjas and danced to MGMT's "Electric Feel." They received three 9s and a 10.

Mark said the surprise elimination "kicked me in the gut. I didn't see it coming at all."

The pro dancer praised his celebrity star for her improvements over the several weeks of competition and said she's the perfect role model for her generation. Click play on the video above to hear more from Mark and Willow.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
