It's just a few splashes of color, but what it signifies is bigger than you could possibly imagine.

People are flooding Twitter and Instagram with photos of their fingernails painted with nail polish, which is an image you see on those social media sites every single day. People love to show off their on point nail game. But if you look closely, you'll see that these particular "nail selfies" are accompanied by the hashtag #PaintYourNailsForBruce.

The social media movement was started by radio station KIIS 1065 in Sydney as a way to show support for Jenner, who recently came out as transgender in a interview with Diane Sawyer. At first, it started with men painting their nails to show solidarity, but now it's both men and women showing off their colors to celebrate Bruce's decision to open up about his transition.

(At this time, Bruce Jenner has not chosen to publicly identify as a woman and so E! News will continue to refer to him as Bruce and use male pronouns, until he indicates otherwise.)

Why is the nail polish an important symbol? Because in his interview with Sawyer, Jenner revealed how badly he wanted to "be able to have my nail polish on long enough that it actually chips off." The idea that he couldn't have something as simple as that is a heartbreaking notion, but the #PaintYourNailsforBruce movement will hopefully provide more of the support that Jenner needs right now.

Last Friday, the 65-year-old Olympic gold medalist and parent of six spoke for the first time about his past struggles and his decision to finally reveal to the world that he is transitioning into a woman.

''Yes, for all intents and purposes I am a woman," Jenner said. "People look at me differently. They see you as this 'macho male,' but my heart and my soul and everything I do in life; it is part of me, that female side is part of me. It's who I am. I was not genetically born that way…I've been thinking about this day forever and what I should do with my life, how do I tell my story. It's been really tough. But here I am; I'm still here. That's the good news."

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has received an outpouring of support from his children and from celebrities since the interview aired. And now with this #PaintYourNailsforBruce campaign, he knows he has the support from people all over the world.
