Laverne Cox is stepping out from behind bars for her new show. The Emmy nominated star of Orange Is the New Black has filmed a new CBS drama, Doubt, that sees the Netflix inmate playing an attorney.
The new drama hails from Grey's Anatomy and Madam Secretary veterans Tony Phelan and Joan Rater.
"It's just a brilliant sort of legal drama. I play Cameron Wirth, this Ivy League educated attorney who's really passionate and compassionate and competitive. It's a really wonderful script. I had such a good time," Cox told us. "Dule Hill, Kadee Strickland, Dreama Walker, Elliott Gould are all my costars in it, so we'll see. I had a blast doing that."
While the fate of Doubt remains up in the air, we do know Cox will be back as Sophia Burset in season three of Orange Is The New Black. The cast is notoriously tight-lipped. Seriously, it's like Netflix and Jenji Kohan have threatened them with the SHU for life if they spill any spoilers. In fact, Cox's costar Taylor Schilling refuses to talk about plotlines all together! But E! News' Alicia Quarles did manage to get some tiny scoop out of the activist and actress.
"It's gonna be intense," Cox teased. "Jenji was really interested in faith and what we believe in as a theme for this third season, so there's a lot of that permeates…Sophia may or may not get in some major conflict with another prisoner."
