Renée Zellweger Is Lookin' Good While Cozying Up to Boyfriend Doyle Bramhall at Broadway Charity Event

Actress steps out after facing criticism for looking different on previous occasions

Renée Zellweger brought a glow to the red carpet last night when she cozied up to boyfriend of two years Doyle Bramhall (and his wild hair) and smiled for the cameras. The 45-year-old actress attended the One Starry Night: From Broadway to Hollywood gala in Los Angeles benefiting the ALS Association Golden West Chapter.

The two lovebirds were present to support her publicist Nanci Ryder, who has been diagnosed with ALS.

Zellweger wore a white ombre lace double-breasted overcoat that covered most of her body and hid her attire underneath, with a simple top-knot bun and nude pumps. Meanwhile, her beau went for the opposite look by wearing a dark navy outfit and let his crazy curls hang loose.

This is one of the few sightings of the star since she caused a stir on the red carpet at Elle's Women in Hollywood Awards, where many speculated on a perceived change in her facial appearance. Her attendance at the fashion show is also her first public event following the October controversy. 

"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," Zellweger told People in response to the tabloid chatter. 

Calling the discussion about her appearance "silly," she continued, "It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door."

"My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy," she explained. "For a long time I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things."

She added: "People don't know me in my 40s. People don't know me [as] healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy."
