For a show built on its twists and turns, Revenge delivered what is arguably its biggest shocker ever on Sunday night: in order to finally end her war with Amanda Clarke (Emily VanCamp), Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowe) blew up Grayson Manor...while she was still inside. Yeah, there are remnants of our jaws still on our floors, too. But come on, Victoria Grayson can't really be dead right?!
"You'll still see stuff," Stowe coyly tells E! News of Victoria's fate, confirming that she will definitely still appear in "flashbacks" that contain big "revelations" and will fully shed light on what motivated Victoria to take her own life in order to finally bring down Amanda.
But even if Victoria somehow miraculously survived the major blast (which we highly doubt after our chat with the leading lady), Stowe confirms her time on the show is officially done, telling us, "This is my last season."
However, Revenge has yet to be renewed for a fifth season, and it's looking more and more likely that the season four finale will be serving a series finale. And if it is renewed by ABC, Stowe says, "I think if it goes on it would have to be a reinvention."
While it's her last season, Stowe says, "I think that it's still up in the air for the rest of the castmembers. I think there are people who really love the show and want to go on with the show. We've had a fabulous crew. They've been with us for four years, and I'm so very close with them that I'll be rooting for them all if that's what they want to."
And while many fans are sad to see Victoria, one of the best TV villains of the decade, go out, Stowe can pin-point two previous times she would've liked to see her character die: at the end of season one and at the end of season three. "I loved how season one built and ended," she explains. "To this day, I will say that's how she should've went out! [Laughs.] People would ask, 'Aren't you terrified you're not going to come back?' I said, 'It's a perfect ending for her.'"
Looking at Mason Treadwell's (Roger Bart) speech to Amanda at the end of the episode about how a happy ending will never be in the cards for her, we asked Stowe if she thinks anyone on the show can possibly have (or even deserves) a happily ever after at this point.
"I can't give away the ending because I think it's going to be bittersweet, but I can tell you this: these woman are always going to be tied together," Stowe teases.
Finally, we asked Stowe to write Victoria Grayson's epitaph, and of course, her answer was perfect: "There she lies, take her or leave her."
