Our fingers are so crossed that The Mindy Project will be back for a fourth season.

"I don't know," Chris Messina insists when asked if has any pick-up intel he could share with us. "You'll probably find out faster than I will. I'm the last person to know these things."

While we doubt that, Messina did say he's anxious to see Danny as a father. "I'd love to see Danny and this baby," said Messina. (I talked to the actor while he was promoting the April 17 release of his feature film directorial debut Alex of Venice—more on that later.)

"I never imagined I would be on a TV show with a baby, certainly not this one because, you know, in the pilot I said to [Mindy], 'You should lose 15 pounds,'" Messina said. "My character was a real d--k. And now she's having my baby. It's amazing how things can change. And that's the fun of television. You get to grow with these characters."

And you get to see them strip.

As fans of the series know, it was revealed earlier this season that Danny once worked as a stripper. He showed off his Magic Mike moves (and body!) during an epic dance in the season premiere.

"That was embarrassing all day long," Messina said of shooting the scene, explaining, "You're there on set and there are all these guys and they're holding the boom mic and it's like, 'How many times do we have to watch this asshole strip?'"

But then he added, "It's fun."

It sure was fun to watch, Mr. Messina.

Alex of Venice is in theaters on April 17, but I promise to have more about the movie next week. For now, watch the video below for more of Chris talking Mindy Project and Mindy Kaling.
