Earlier this week, Adam Levine was understandably startled when a female fan rushed onstage and grabbed hold of him mid-song.

The Maroon 5 crooner handled it like a pro, grabbing a gentle hold of her shoulders until his security detail was able to restrain her. But in an interview with Today's Carson Daily, the Voice coach seemed rattled as recalled the frightening details.

"She ran full speed at me, and I was, you know, singing," he said. "I was not aware of her. She was on me, the next thing I knew."

Someone off-camera wanted to know where was Adam's security when this lady was rushing the stage. "Good question," he said, clearly unhappy with the events that transpired.

Left to his own devices, though, he had to think fast. "I kind of had to, like, I guess, deal with it 'cause there was no one around," he explained. "So I looked at her, and I kind of held her shoulders. I'm like, 'You need to calm down—please calm down, relax.' And I put my arm around her. And then by that time, someone had managed to make their way up there [and] gingerly...remove her from the stage."

Fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton wanted to know what happened to the fan after security escorted her away from Adam. "They took her backstage?"

"She's in prison," Adam deadpanned, but he couldn't keep a straight face. "No, she's not," he said, laughing. "I don't think..."

Ha! Fans, this is definitely not the right way to get the attention of your idols!

Carson's full interview with Adam, Blake and all of the Voice crew airs Monday on Today.
