John Stamos announced on Monday night's Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the family comedy will be headed to Netflix in 2016. The show, to be titled Fuller House, will start off as a one-hour reunion special and then segue into a spinoff series.
The basics of the plot are this: D.J. (now D.J. Tanner-Fuller) is a recently widowed veterinarian who also happens to be pregnant, so her sister Stephanie and BFF Kimmy Gibbler move in to help her raise her own children. (Does that sound familiar, anybody?)
They end up with their own full house, attempting to raise D.J.'s two sons and Kimmy's daughter as they prepare for the new baby. Oh, and we're pretty sure it won't actually be as depressing as it sounds.
As some of the biggest Full House fans out there (and owners of both the complete DVD set and the very limited edition Full House board game), we've spent a lot of time thinking about what a reunion show might look like. At the risk of showing our hand as total FH nerds, we're going to let you in on a few of our predictions and fantasy plot lines.
1. After being rejected from every college in California, Kimmy Gibbler decides to indulge in her true passion: Sweets. She opens up a little fro-yo joint, which turns into a second shop, which turns into a mini-chain, which subsequently becomes super successful, making her super rich. Michelle Tanner is her number one customer.
2. D.J. goes to Berkeley and experiments with a hippie phase. She finds out that Danny is not actually as uptight as he seems, if you know what we mean (we mean Mary Jane), and the two develop a very San Francisco-esque pasttime.
3. D.J. and Steve stayed together for awhile, but eventually she realized she could no longer afford to finance his appetite.
4. Steve finds love after the breakup, and since his marketable skills are basically nonexistant (besides eating), he decides to start a parenting blog.
5. Joey is still single. Because...have you met Joey?
6. Uncle Jesse still owns the Smash Club, but is becoming more and more disaffected by today's youths and their constant requests for techno music.
7. Becky, Jesse and the boys finally moved out...into the house next door to Danny. Which is a down the street from D.J.'s new place. Old habits die hard.
8. Michelle grows up, goes to NYU and gets a job in fashion in New York City. She's never really around because she's totally too cool for the Tanner clan. (Or is that plot line a little too familiar?)
9. Stephanie finally stopped saying "How rude."
10. D.J. and Kimmy are still best friends (duh, since this is a reboot about them), and after Kimmy moves in she finally agrees to see somebody about that smelly feet problem.
11. Vicky is now a host of the Today show, and Danny is still not over it.
12. Nicky and Alex get faux-hawks, Jesse suffers a minor stroke in response.
13. With all of his girls out of school, Danny has moved on to dating the teachers of his grandchildren.
14. The Rush Hour Renegades is a favorite of the city's Uber drivers.
15. Danny finally got a cleaning lady.
