I received an awesome gift on Tuesday at the office.

It's a sweatshirt printed with one of the many #flowerporn flower pics I've posted on Instagram.

A note inside from someone named Gordo said that he was sorry to have missed me at South by Southwest and hoping my husband and I along with our two dogs "are doing well."

I had no idea who Gordo was.

Then, earlier today, I received another envelope. Inside, were copies of other photos from my Instagram, including a #TBT of my mom carrying me when I was a baby. Another is a recent selfie but with some sort of monkey photoshopped into the background. There was no note this time.

Creepy, right?

Well, it turns out that this was a genius move from STX Entertainment to promote its upcoming thriller The Gift.

The movie stars Jason Bateman as a man who finds himself and his wife (Rebecca Hall) being stalked by an old high school friend (Joel Edgerton) named Gordon, who goes by the name—you got it!—Gordo.

You've got to take a look at the trailer to see just how creepy this film is.

While it may seem that this is a case of an old pal being obsessed with a friend from the past, things get really twisted when Hall's character realizes that her husband has a secret past with Gordo that may explain why he's making their lives so miserable.

"Tell me what happened," Hall pleads with Bateman.

Bateman replies, "It was 25 years ago!"

Cut to Hall looking at Bateman and saying, "I have no idea who you really are."

Yikes.

And then there's footage of Batemen crying and looking very afraid. A voice-over warns, "You think you're done with the past, but the past is not done with you."

Double yikes.

The Gift is set to be released in July.
